Initially committed to playing college football at Florida State University Hunter made a decision in December 2021. He decided to change his commitment and instead chose Jackson State University. This move made history as he became the ranked prospect ever to commit to an HBCU or FCS program.
Hunter had his year, as a player at Jackson State, where he showcased his skills as both a receiver and cornerback. During that time he successfully caught 14 passes for 141 yards. Scored two touchdowns. In the end, he also displayed his talent by securing two interceptions.
