It's a blemish on the NBA and the players themselves that they have such a bad track record of domestic violence cases filed against them.
From petty scuffles to full-on brawls, we have witnessed everything in the NBA. However, that on-court anger should not spill over off court.
First step towards the right direction is to acknowledge the problem. Let’s take a closer look at some of the stars who were dragged to court over assault allegations by their partners.
Last year in June of 2022, Miles was all over the news after LAPD showed up at his doorstep to arrest him on felony charges of assaulting his wife, Mychelle Johnson.
MILES BRIDGES
Shortly after signing the contract with the LA Lakers, Matt was arrested over domestic violence. Although the victim wasn't revealed, speculators say it was his gf, Gloria Govan.
MATT BARNES
Currently the head coach of Mavericks, Kidd was arrested back in 2001 after news of him punching his wife during an argument leaked. He pleaded guilty and had to undergo anger management classes.
JASON KIDD
In 2019, an arrest warrant was issued for Cousins after he allegedly choked and threatened the women he shares a child with. He was charged with a misdemeanor.
DEMARCUS COUSINS
He was arrested back in 2016 after his wife phoned the police and filed the report against him. He pleaded guilty to the domestic battery charge and got two year probation.
DARREN COLLISON
These are just a few of the honorary mentions from a long list. It's important to note that not all of these accusations were proved in the court.
