Nike x Rapper Collabs That Were So Overhyped They Were a Letdown

Nike, Adidas and many more, are some of the top brands, always looking to expand their territory and reach. These brands have been part of some of the most successful collaborations in history.

Companies and brands look for influences who can have a substantial impact on consumer spending habits. Let's take a look at all the celebs, rappers and athletes whose features failed.

Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 High OG "Cactus Jack" - It was one of the most anticipated collaborations of 2019, but it fell short of its hype. Its high price and many quality issues made them unaffordable.

Drake x Nike Air Force 1 Low "OVO" - This Drake’s collaboration with Nike was probably one of his few failed features. The design was criticised for its bland taste and lack of originality.

Wiz Khalifa x Nike SB Dunk Low "Khalifa"- The partnership received a lot of mixed reviews. Initially they were released as a limited edition which added to the hype, but eventually they failed miserably.

Pharrell Williams x Nike Air Max 95 "Hu"- It was one of the successful collaborations respectively, but also one of the most hyped. The cost was around $200, which many fans couldn’t afford.

It is clear that even if you attach yourself to a big name or a brand, you need to do your part perfectly, for it to be a successful collaboration.
