Sam Hartman has two brothers, Demitri Allison and Joe Hartman. Demitri was 15 years old when he decided to move in with the Hartmans. He lived with them all throughout his four years of high school. Demirti was an exceptional student-athlete with a vibrant personality.
Unfortunately, a tragedy unfolded at Elon University on Wednesday, 2015, when 21-year-old wide receiver Demitri Allison committed suicide by jumping from a 10-story residence hall at the University of North Carolina.
This incident really was a traumatizing event for Sam at such a young age, as he always looked up to his big brother, Demitri. Hartman has said that Allison was like a brother to him in every sense of the word. Hartman loved his big brother and later followed in his footsteps to honor his life.
Demitri’s Back Story
Demirti Allison was a native of Cornelius, North Carolina, who established himself as a key player and the wide receiver of the Phoenix’s football team. Born on September 4, 1994, he was a bright student and an even brighter athlete. However, due to circumstances such as poverty and growing up in a rough neighborhood, his chances seemed dim.
The Hartman family saw the potential in the kid and took him under their wing. He was their newly adopted son, who always cracked jokes and was fun to be around. His second mother, Lisa Hartman, revealed that just a few days before the incident, he was at a family gathering with his girlfriend, laughing and enjoying himself.
She said she regretted that she couldn’t do anything to save her son and wished she’d known about his mental struggles earlier. She told the interviewers that he even left a note for the family before committing suicide.
Demitri’s Relationship with Sam Hartman
Demitri and Sam were very close. Demitri was in high school, and Sam was only an elementary school student when they used to run laps in the backyard and practice football together. Their common love for sports created a bond stronger than brotherhood.

Demitri’s own athletic accomplishments
Demitri Allison finished second on his team as a sophomore, with 55 catches for 525 yards and two touchdowns, while averaging six catches for 64 yards. He had a touchdown in his freshman year as well.
