Tyler Buchner College Career

During the 2021-2022 season at Notre Dame, Buchner played as a backup to Jack Coan. He completed 32 of his 53 passes for 344 yards and three touchdowns. Additionally, he showcased his versatility by gaining 47 rushing yards and scoring two rushing touchdowns.

Unfortunately, Buchner’s time as the starting quarterback was cut short due to a shoulder injury he sustained in the game against Marshall. Despite this setback, he displayed promise with a 60% completion rate for 313 yards and two touchdowns.

In 2023, Buchner decided to transfer to Alabama, where he served as a backup for Bryce Young, who won the Heisman Trophy. During this period, his responsibilities mainly involved taking on mop-up duties and participating in the A-Day spring game.

Back at Notre Dame for the year 2024, Buchner is poised to assume the role of starting quarterback following Young’s departure to pursue an NFL career.
